4 stars Buy "Independency"- Bark Psychosis for the lengthy track "Scum" and be prepared to be blown away. This one is for fans of bands like Sigur Ros, "Spirit of Eden/Laughing Stock"-period Talk Talk and Godspeed You Black Emperor! A classic and timeless piece of work from 1992.

"Scum" was recorded in a church and you can _hear the room_, so to speak. I would say this track alone represents the "Dark Side Of The Moon/Close To The Edge"-like masterpiece in the "Post Rock" genre. I'm lost for words in describing it other than it includes jazz-like drumming, woodwinds, keyboards and a throbbing pastoral-like bass line(similar to Chicago band TORTOISE, not unlike Talk Talk's "Laughing Stock"). Make sure you hear "Scum" for the first time uninterrupted...preferably late at night, dim the lights...and ALONE! I know that sounds pretentious, but it will do the trick. Crack open a cheap bottle of wine to boot! Neighbours within your vicinity may think you've just purchased a one way ticket to the funny farm...so you might want to drive out to the countryside or find a nice secluded place before pressing PLAY>. "Scum" could clear a room in no less than 1 minute once things start to get a little hairy. :-)

The track "Scum"(21:15 in length) gets 5 stars++++

The rest of the "Independency" CD ranks on par with anything by Slowdive, early-Catherine Wheel, My Bloody Valentine, Comsat Angels, Cocteau Twins, early-Verve, Swans and Joy Division with a bit of a Pink Floyd organic feel(most notably "A Saucerful Of Secrets" meets "Meddle"). Not too amazing or mindblowing, but still pretty good.
