Yes I am
4 stars YESTERDAYS SOUND BETTER TODAYS

It is hard to evaluate compilations because they are always in competition with the original releases and sometimes people evaluate the mixing of the compilation rather than the musical content which I think should be the criteria. I was following Yes since Fragile, so even though I have knowledge of the existence of previous jobs, I was not able to get any of those until late 80's, so all these tracks were new to me when this album was published. First thing called my attention, was the opening track "America", which I heard before with Simon & Garfunkel and I though "my god! Is Yes becoming pop?" and I got to admit that it took me sometime to really appreciate this work, since I was expecting something like "Close to the Edge" or "Tales from Topographic Oceans" which is the type of music I really like the most from Yes. Now after years I have found the quality and the class of this music with no high pretensions but plenty of richness in sounds and rhythms and now I can assign a better rate compared with the evaluation I would made 30 years ago. Still not a master piece, but a great addition to a prog collection.
