5 stars ELP may have no subtlety - but they do not need it, that's not their style. It's bombastic, but it's meant to be that. It's circus-like, but it's meant to be that. That's the thing with ELP, they are in full control of what they are doing, and that is a h-u-g-e achievement. Their music is almost impossible to play technically, and is expressive at the same time. Now to be able to play that kind of music live, as well as they do... and still put on a mad show at the same time... don't you think that's genius?! And their facade has no cracks in it - is as solid and as elegant as a Greek temple's.
