5 stars Frankly speaking here we have a very good album. ELP makes the difference spanning from jazz to electronic, passing through ballads and piano bar jokes guaranteed to make you dream for a while...Emerson plays everything, Lake is an incredible bassist and only skilled musicians are able to understand his skills on the fretboard. Only Palmer seems a little bit "compressed" among these giants, his drums is not good as in the previous albums. In 1973 this album kicked the ass to every progressive band...the sound is so fresh, the musical contents shows many original ideas...men, these boys well knew what they did. Nothing was left out..."Someone get me a ladder" is a real statement...in fact they were so high that nobody could sweep over their great musical brains!! Preferred song is "Jerusalem" (pure melody) and the final movement of the suite "Karn evil 9"..but it's not easy to choose among these songs. ELP is ELP (like Emerson said in a interview)...and ELP plays all the music.
