4 stars This is what you get when you jam pack 4 cds with the career of Emerson, Lake and Palmer.

In Return of the Manticore, you get four cds spanning the recording career of Emerson, Lake and Palmer from their debut up to when this set was released in the 90's.

The first cd has some excellent reworks of each members past hits before they joined ELP, plus an excellent version of Touch and Go from the ELPowell album but with Palmer on drums. Following these, is an amazing studio rendition of Pictures at an Exhibition.

Over the course of the four cds you get several live tracks, and unreleased versions, all which span the career of ELP. If you have one or two greatest hits cds, or are looking for a guide to the ELP catologue, this set is an excellent place to start. Almost every album is represented here. And yes, that means some tracks from Love Beach are on here, taking up space that could have been used better.

To sum it up, this is THE box set of Emerson, Lake and Palmer, which is a great place to either start with them, or update your collection.
