5 stars Even in the toughest times...when prog's movement was slowing down and many groups over their creative hump...

Supertramp comes out with one of their finest albums. This is even more piano-driven than "Crime of the Century". This is also much more brighter and delicate than the relatively powerful "Crime". It is also much like "Crime" in the sense that all the songs are for the most part equally good. The title track sticks out a little more than the rest and, of course, the (deceptively) brilliant "Fool's Overture". It is perhaps Supertramp's best song. I particularly love the last two minutes because of the vocals and the wind instruments adding arpeggios against the keyboards and bass. In closing, this is a fantastic group of material.. It is as good, if not better than "Crime of the Century".
