5 stars Frank Zappa, as an artist made strange music. He made his most strangest stuff with The Mothers of Invention. Concidering that, well, perhaps Freak Out! is a strange album. Or maybe We're Only In It For The Money. Those two are strange indeed, or who says what is strange and what isn't. But okay, compared to the EMO-crap like My Chemical Romance, Bullet For My Valentine or 30 Seconds To Mars or some other chart-topping Bulls*it bands, Zappa's music could be a little strange. Where Zappa's albums are strange, all of them, Weasels Ripped My Flesh is REALLY strange even from Zappa. And That is a lot said. If you thought those two Zappa albums that I just referenced earlier are strange and that's the reason you don't like those, I have to ask you to NEVER listen to this album. When You can Listen to Freak Out!, Absolutely Free, We're Only In It For The Money, Uncle Meat, Hot Rats and Burnt Weeny Sandwich without concidering them too strange, that means you are ready. And let me say, don't take this as your first Zappa album even though the cover might be cool, it will propably scare you for good!

Okay, the music is wild here ! Wild and strange indeed. Some could say the sound is so wild and obscure that it is ugly. But there's beauty inside, trust me. Beauty only few can see. Like proven by the track "Orange County Lumber Truck". The Intro is something un-describable. It's beauty. Then there are these really off-the-wall free jazz, propably improvised tracks (The Eric Dolphy Memorial Barbeque and parts from the other songs) and the humorous jazzy tracks (My Guitar wants to Kill your mama, The Toads of the short forest). Then threre are two "Pretty normal" tracks, the first two that is. "Universal Weirdness" trophy goes to two tracks. A Prelude to an afternoon of a sexually aroused gas mask, a song with manic laughing by Roy Estrada (Wearing a gas mask) and the title track that is two minutes of guitar feedback and instrumental noises.

Essential Zappa album that should be bought by eveyone with moderate experience about Zappa's sound and music.
