3 stars REMEMBER WHEN YOU WERE YOUNG

This was certainly the breaking point between the Barrett era and the Gilmour-Waters government. Maybe this is the weakest album by the British quartet. At the time Syd had yet some hard mental disease and it was time for the band to get another guitar player if they wanted to become something more than a flashy band that just couldn't stand the pressure. It was time to let Syd go and call Dave for joining the band, and the decision was simply perfect, this guy really got into the dynamic and the essence of the music they were trying to do.

As I said before, this was a transitory album that would combine styles, the early Floyd Years and the golden years. The contributions by Syd Barrett are short but substantial; the landmark he left would become very useful for the development of the Floydian Sound that made them rich and famous. Even when this is a single oriented and not as conceptual as their next releases, it has a great execution in song like "Remember a day", the stunning "Set the controls for the heart of the sun" and of course the title track "A Saucerful of Secrets".

Concluding, even when instrumentally there are so many lacks on this recording, this one is so meaningful for the band, because they were able to change slowly the course they were running into another direction to become what they are now, LEGENDS, so I'll give this one 3 stars for this big effort.
