MADE IN ENGLAND

After fellow band members chose to leave the group, keyboard player Vincent Crane made an attempt to keep the molten fire of the last three albums burning. Reforming a new band around ex-Colosseum vocalist Chris Farlowe they were able to offer a solid Atomic Rooster album which was released in 1973. After listening to the album a few times all the songs are undeniably strong, but it is the instrumental track 'Breathless' (with it's cool intro) along with superb piano/guitar interplay, which really stood out for me. I found the british R&B vocal stylings of Chris Farlowe sound slightly out of place on this Rooster album. If a person were silly enough to own just one album by this mostly unknown yet influential band well, I would instantly recommend their second release of 1970, the dark masterpiece 'Death Walks Behind You'.
