3 stars If you're planning on checking out Starcastle for the first time-- THIS is the album to start with.

Very much "inspired" by YES' first four albums, these guys certainly do follow in the footsteps of Jon Anderson and friends --maybe a bit too much-- only without the angular gritty style of a Steve Howe or Tony Kaye. (OK, that's just my way of saying that Starcastle can be a little on the Lite synthy side.)

The melodies are memorable, the playing is intricate (especially the bass), and the vocals are often harmonized and...well...very high... much like Yes.

Put it this way: You're not going to get a ton of originality out of these guys-- but you will get a fun Yes-like experience. So if THAT is what you're looking for, then you've come to the right place! Just enjoy.
