TRAFFIC CONTINUES

This is Frith's first album on the Winter & Winter label. All of the CD's that Fred have produced on this label so far are in a hardback cover with an integral booklet. Is the music worthy of the package? Well, probably not for most. I must admit, I've been listening to it mostly as background music at work. With stuff like this you really can't crank it up and concentrate on work.

I really don't think it's even something you would want to be listening to in traffic. Maybe if you were taking public transportation and missed being in traffic, this would help you cope. Seriously, if you sit down and listen to it and concentrate on the music, it is a sort of impressionist musical representation of traffic in a city, more on a bigger level than a personal one. The music is classical/jazz/prog fusion, maybe in that order. According to the booklet, Traffic Continues is a hybrid composed and improvisational piece. TC II utilizes samples of the late Tom Cora (1953-1988) as the centerpiece of the piece.

Ensemblic (classical-like, symphonic, prog, noise why not?) Avant-Prog at it's best. It's got guitar, drum machines, electric harp, and a bunch of other instruments to boot.
