BIRDSONGS OF THE MESOZOIC WITH ORAL MOSES: EXTREME SPIRITUALS

Birdsongs of the Mesozic appear again with a great surprise for those who have listened to them previously. In this occasion, they join with Oral Moses (opera singer, specialist in african american composers, gospel, spirituals and Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Vocal Performance and Opera).

This record is based on african american spirituals, sang by the superb voice of oral moses, but with the musical background of Birdsongs of the Mesozoic, who arrange the songs in an incredible vein. The contrast between song and music is absolutely surprising, with tradicional slave songs sounding like they could have never sounded before. Although many could think about this record as a curiosity and not so serious, it is not really that: it is a very serious work, where all the artists give their best and offer a great opportunity to join two completely different worlds: tradition and avantgarde.

Songs range from the very lyrical and relaxing "I Feel Like a Motherless Child" or "Nobody Knows the truble I See" to the fiery "A Little more Faith in Jesus" or "Great Day". Great contrasts throughout the whole record, although the sound is not the typical BIRDSONGS OF THE MESOZOIC. Unusual, very unusual, but absolutely incredible.

The great merit of the record is not only giving great musicianship to traditional song, like no one did before (at least, I don´t know any record like this one). And what is more, it can give the opportunity to many people to discover spiritual songs and also discover the great artist and writer who is Oral Moses.
