3 stars After Kevin Moore left the band, they also ended up with commercial pressure from the record label just to add to the frustration. Therefore, half is this album is made up of singles and ballads, rather boring ones too, ending up with a frustratingly uneven album. At least new keyboard man Derek Sherinian freshens up their sound to a great extent, and tracks like 'Lines in the Sand and 'Trial of Tears' have several wonderful textural moments, the band sounds very much inspired on those tracks and they are both thankfully long.

The opening track is decent enough, and 'Hell's Kitchen' is a very good instrumental break early in the album. Much of the rest have nothing to do with the true ambition of the band at this point and leaves me, with a few exceptions, mostly cold. But of 78 minutes, 40 of them is better than nothing. Sherinian would leave the band after this for fusion/metal project Planet X whose albums are highly recommended to fans of the trickier technical side of DT. This one is mostly for the fans, and barely a 3 here on the archives.
