3 stars Hmmm! I really like Dream Theater. I loved Images and Words, Awake and A Change of Seasons. When I bought Falling Into Infinity I loved it instantly. However, it didn't warrant as much repeated listening as the first three. It just didn't hold that sustainability. So I began to wonder why.....It lacks detail. The first three albums raised peoples expectations and I think with this album people bought into the idea that 'It's Dream Theater, it's got to be brilliant!!' But once they ate the cherry from the top they realised they were left with a half-baked cake. Like someone mentioned earlier, if this was another band realeasing this album, you would be very impressed. Continuity suffers on this album. There are some great tracks on it, don't get me wrong. It's just not very coherent. It's worth checking out for sure (New Millenium, Lines In The Sand, Trial of Tears), but it definitely makes Scenes from a Memory (the next album) appear ultra-devastating!!!
