5 stars I just bought a copy of Transatlantic's new album Kaleidoscope and my first impression is that Transatlantic has finally found its sound. It is easy to hear the influence of Dream Theater and Spock's Beard but neither dominates. Kaleidoscope is finally the melting pot of the musicians not a mixing bowl of 4 different visions. As for the songs themselves both Kaleidoscope and Into the Blue the two epic length entries are to me pure prog rock goodness. I should note I have the special edition and while the good covers are nice especially And You and I and Nights in White Satin it is the five original songs that shows the maturity of Transatlantic from a disparate group of great musicians into a truly great group.
