3 stars This 1972 Tull album is a compilation of the unreleased songs and some of the more significant songs of the previously recorded albums. From my point of view it can be compared to the '68-'69 Tull albums: This Was and Stand Up. The songs are still lacking the JT's power brought by the best line-up ever: Anderson, Hammond-Hammond, Barre, Barlow, Evans, Palmer. In this case there's a mixture of fine songs and Tull's hymns: the record goes from simple songs like Singing all Day to great masterpieces like Locomotive Breath. I consider it a strange selection of songs, but it definately had sense for the band at that time. My favourites are Sweet Dream, By kind permission of (recorded live with a perfect piano piece played by John Evans), Locomotive Breath, Dharma for One (recorded live). Once again I believe it's only for Tull fans. However at that stage of their career this piece is more similar to the Tull classics.
