ABACAB

This album, which has a distinctive bright, fresh, poppy sound so unlike the Genesis of the 1970's, is very much a mixed bag. The title track and "Dodo/Lurker" are unique and make the album somewhat interesting, but there's not much else here to recommend it for progressive rock fans who don't need to own every Genesis album. There are also some decent pure pop songs (No Reply, Man on the Corner), some pop songs I didn't much care for ("Me and Sarah Jane", "Like it or Not", "Another Record"), and an extremely annoying pop song I'd rather not ever hear again as long as I live ("Who Dunnit?").
