BALLAD OF JOHN AND YOKO

As it is now widely known (thanks to the information which is now available in the Internet and for some books which were published since The Beatles`s split), "The Ballad of John and Yoko" is a song composed by John Lennon which he wanted to record with the band, but George Harrison was for some reason "unavailable" then and Ringo Starr was making the "The Magic Christian" film with Peter Sellers. So, this song was recorded by Lennon (on guitars, percussion and lead vocals) and Paul McCartney (on drums, bass, piano and backing vocals). The song was recorded quickly (in an evening), with the lyrics narrating the events related to John and Yoko`s wedding. The B-side, "Old Brown Shoe", is a song composed by George Harrison which was recorded days later by him, Ringo and Paul, but the presence of Lennon in this song is not very clear as he sometimes was absent or didn`t participate (in my opinion, not very good gestures done by John towards George`s songs) when a song composed by Harrison was recorded by the band in their last years together, but maybe he sang a bit of backing vocals. Both songs are good songs from 1969, and the first time I listened to them was in the "Hey Jude" (AKA "The Beatles Again") U.S. compilation album from 1970.
