Progressive Biography
Date of birth: 7/7/80
Website: The Madrigal Project
From a (relatively) younger breed of prog rock fans, born in the 80s and not discovering these musical treasures until the mid-90s, I feel equally cursed and blessed: cursed in that I couldn't be around for the Golden Age of 70s prog, to see the bands flourish first-hand; yet blessed in that I am free from the social inertia that coloured much of musical perception back then and eventually resulted in the nerve gas bomb of punk. When the words are at my disposal, I enjoy writing reviews and try my best to explain what is expressed in music and not just describe what instruments are playing.
I also currently carry the torch of soft progressive/electronic/space rock in my own way, and you can find my own Prog Archives listing here :)
My favourite progressive bands/artists:
CAMEL
GENESIS
KING CRIMSON
OLDFIELD, Mike
SHINGETSU
VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR
YES
My favourite progressive albums include:
Amarok - OLDFIELD, Mike
The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway - Genesis
Larks' Tongues In Aspic - KING CRIMSON
Ommadawn - OLDFIELD, Mike
Red - KING CRIMSON
Relayer - YES
Tales From Topographic Oceans - YES
A Trick Of The Tail - GENESIS
"And anyhow there's things I see more clearly
Than those whose heads are searching in the clouds
To make discoveries
And maybe fail to see
What's on the ground beneath their feet
Not hard to find
People cry, but no one asks me to advise them
They want to know but they don't ask me how
That's for someone else and not for me
I don't know...
Lucky me"
