Progressive Biography

I joined this website in June 2006, started reviewing in October. Hopefully, my reviews are providing some insight - although they're telling more about myself then about the actual music. I hope someone will find my reviews useful, as well as my contribution to the forum and this facility in general. But it helped me too: I learned a lot. Not only about the music; I also improved my knowledge of English, as well as my writing skills. My oldest reviews are inconsistent and a bit naive, but I really doubt I will edit them any time soon; let them stay and be a silly roadmark of my own progress.

I'm from the south-east, a corner of Europe, on Adriatic Sea, surrounded by typical Mediterranean landscapes: lovely corner of the planet, but not the best place for progressive rock enthusiast. Political storming, swamps of history made this area passionate and vulnerable, and a bit cynic. I'm trying to squeeze the best of it for the improvement of my life.

Music is my biggest passion. I hate it passionately. Only the lonely sparkles of it are charming, even astonishing - like a star in a empty cosmos.

I enjoy variety of musical styles; most of them from the 20th century. My favourite musical instruments are keyboards (any non-digital ones, from the Steinway Grand Piano to Hammond C3 to analogue synthesizers) and I am trying to be a collectioner. As I am passionate more than rich, my collection is not very huge. I'm also playing guitar, bass, mandolin, balalaika and basically anything with strings and without a bow. I'm bleeding my passion in the band that will see a light of a day one day. If you know a interested label, let me know.

My other passion are books and motion pictures; and if I have to cherry-pick from those two art forms, that will be Science Fiction, the bravest literary form done by humans. If I have to zoom even deeper, that will be something called anti-utopia.

I also like art nouveau and Raphaelites; the first one in painting, sculpture, applied art and mostly in architecture; from neo-classicism to novecenta.

Something else, a thing or two: a good comic book, I'm with mainstream here: mostly Italian school: Martin Mystere, Dylan Dog, Allan Ford. I can get to a level of sophistication such is Pratt's Corto Maltese or Foster's Prince Valliant, but these journeys are unfortunately less than occasional.

Amateur philology, when one is willing to debate: origins of Indo-European languages. Subtractive synthesis, for those rare ones Who Know.

That's all I have to say about myself right now.

Peace.
