Listening to Nadirs Big Chance by Peter Hammill the other day and hearing Stevie Wonders name mentioned in the lyrics to "Two or Three Spectres" I was wondering how many other groups or singers are mentioned in Prog lyrics, probably loads, but I can't think of any others at the moment.

Something to get yer grey matter working (or not)

In "The Sun In My Eyes" on the new Tangent CD, Andy Tillison mentions Yes (as in "get my head kicked in for liking Yes").

He also mentions those other well known prog giants Suzi Quatro and The Rubettes.

The "Full Circle" section of Dream Theater's song Octavarium contains a bunch of references to artists, songs, and other "Pop Culture" all linked together:

Sailing on the seven seize the day tripper Diem's ready
Jack the Ripper Owen Wilson Phillips and my Supper's ready
Lucy in the Sky with diamond Dave's not here I come to save the Day for
Nightmare Cinema show me the way to get back home again

Flying Off the Hand With careful with
That axe Eugene Gene the dance machine messiah

'Smoke on the water' is about fire in the studio they were recording in, in Switzerland. The Studio was on a lake (in a ship) and therefore: 'Smoke on the water'.
