I think that I previously read this review in the "All Music Guide" website. The "Seconds Out" album has only one song recorded with Bruford ("Cinema Show") in 1976. For the "Wind & Wuthering" tour Bruford wasn`t available because he was planning a band with Rick Wakeman and John Wetton. They rehearsed for 3 weeks, I think, before Wakeman left them to rejoin YES. Then, Wetton and Bruford formed the "U.K." band. So, in late 1976, Collins called Chester Thompson and he became the new tour drummer. So, IMO, the "Genesis in Concert" film is not the "companion" fo the "Seconds Out" album, as the reviewer wrote. But, the "Cinema Show" fragment that appears in the "Genesis In Concert" film is from the same date of the "Cinema Show" recording which appears in the "Seconds Out" album. I never have seen that video. I only mention here what I read in the http://www.genesis-movement.co.uk/ website, in the films/ videos section. I think that the real "companion" of the "Seconds Out" album is really the Dallas film footage that Erik mentioned in his previous messages in this thread. |

Here, Im not sure about details. I know its 1976 and has no Gabriel. I do not like Phil Collins humorous ways of singing classic genesis so I dont know Seconds out at all. This may be it or just another concert from the era. If you Like phil singing its a good watch. low quality but you can see if your interested in pursuing a better copy.

The cinema release of Genesis In Concert was part of a double bill with the official film of the 1976 (Montreal) Winter Olympics, White Rock (music by R Wakeman). My buddies and I went to see it at the Midnight Matinee in the Regal Cinema, Bathgate, Scotland. I recall having to walk home that night (we lived in the next town) as we'd spent all our pennies on beer beforehand and didn't have enough left for a taxi. I was 16 at the time, and little was I to know that that was to become standard practice over the next few years! I have an mpg version which is kind of mid-range resolution. I think I'll scratch around the web this week and try to find something a little better.

Quoting Peter Frame`s "The Complete Rock Family Trees" book (page 23): " A film, GENESIS IN CONCERT, was premiered at the ABC Cinema in Shaftsbury Avenue, London on 1st February 1977 in the presence of Her Royal Highness Princess Anne". Chester Thompson joined Genesis as tour drummer in December 1976 for reharsals. His debut with them was in the first date of their "Wind & Wuthering" tour, in January 1st, 1977, in the Rainbow Theatre, London. In http://www.genesis-movement.org/php/videodetails.php?uid=101 1&isvideo=1 you can see that this film was filmed in 1976, during the "A Trick of the Tail" tour with Bill Bruford as tour drummer (for that tour, only).
