Good poll Winter Wine. I can't believe nobody's voted for "Circus of Heaven"
![]() For me it's a straight choice between Release Release and Silent Wings, and I've gone for Release as I love the chorus. Honorable mention for Onward - well, the live version on Keys to Ascension anway. What an improvement once the guitar is replaced with an acoustic, and the vocals are just brilliant. |

I bought this album many years ago wanting to defy the critics.
After all, there were people who thought Tales was crap, so who cares
what anybody thinks?
The result was an album that was...OK. But not up to par with previous work. For me, the outstanding gem was "On the Silent Wings of Freedom". Absolutely love that intro. |

"On The Silent Wings Of Freedom" is my favourite closely followed by "Onward". I gave this album a lot of time when I first bought it but I felt then and now that it's just not the Yes I got into. "Drama" has more in comparison with the original spirit of Yes and thats got two completely new members. |

much...

Someone referred to my favourite Circus of Heaven as average...To some extent I agree! It is a simple, somewhat naive song, with no extreme intrumental passages. Yet there are some great guitarbits by Howe. What captures me most are the lyrics. I´m usually not that fond of Andersons lyrics - there is to much sciencefiction/fantasy/religious mumbojumbo etc. But in this song in all fits in. What a intersting idea - what if the circus of heaven would come to town? The end with a somewhat disapointed Anderson Jr saying "Oh it was Ok, but there was no clowns..." just summons it up. It´s hard to impress the young ones! |

I like Tormato! My favourite song is the first one: Future Times: Rejoice. Very original melody line. Adventurous Yes stuff once again. |

the story is.... "When Alan White spoke at the Computers and MIDI discussion at Microsoft I asked him if the band had ever performed RELEASE RELEASE. His reply was that they did it only a couple of times on the east coast; a friend who attended one of those shows still has a newpaper clipping with a review of the concert and the reviewer raved specifically about that song. But Alan said they dropped it because the energy level was so extremely high, and Jon had to sing at such a high energy pitch, that the band was totally drained after performing it; the way Alan put it was that after they finished the song they'd look at each other as if to say, can't we stop, do we HAVE to continue the concert, the song was so exhausting!" |
