I think FOCUS would be the most obvious prog candidate. Nothing like "Hocus Pocus" from them or any other band ever even on the album it came from.

I would note that "Harem Scarem" off the later Hamburger Concerto has similarities.

Only vaguely in rhythmic beats and a few wordless utterances but HOCUS POCUS is a hard rock tune with yodelling! Neither of these elements is present on HAREM SCAREM. Great track though.

Also, the thread is about hits and HOCUS POCUS was a surprise hit for the band, another aspect the band never experienced again. Prog bands focused on albums, not singles for the most part.

I'm not sure I agree with this. Black Sabbath had quite a few non heavy metal tracks interspersed among their heavy metal tracks, to the extent that one could say that the non heavy metal tracks were a normal part of Black Sabbath's style.
