A classy woman, very elegant and sober. She has certainly been a point of reference not only for the monarchy but for all the British. Knowing that there is an ever-present serious woman you can rely on gives you a sense of security. Then I wish the British to ask for the passage to republic soon.

The monarchy has essentially lost power for over 200 years and been in decline for more like 500 to 1000. They ceased to 'Reign over us' a long time ago. |

I couldn’t agree with you more. There are a couple of people who really should not be on this site, let alone supposedly representing the site as collaborators. Since she recently died, I would assume this to be a tribute thread. Negative remarks can always wait until those who care for her have had time to deal with the loss.

TBH, I'd like to consider how the world would be if Napoleon had won Waterloo. Probably Belgium would not exist today and the place would be a French province, and we might be all the better for it. Because the Belgian state still pays dues to the Wellington estate yearly a small fortune (they stopped paying Blücher's estate after WW1). That alone is a bloody scandal. The Queen's coffin is doing a mini tour from Balmoral down to London. Very touching to see people lining the streets and sidewalks in tribute. That included about a hundred farm tractors!

I liked her and feel she represented us well. I never envied her one bit despite the many millions. It's not like she could just pop off to somewhere like The Maldives and sip a cocktail in the sun enjoying a bit of peace and quiet. She accepted her role and place in life with good grace and represented our country well. RIP
