Hello and happy new year, everyone! Smile

After watching prog bands get paired up with terrible non-prog opening acts or
opening for totally unrelated blues rock bands and such, never really getting the
kind of promotion that would be needed to get decent-sized audiences, we figured
we should try to do better than that. So we started the Generation Prog project - our
goal being prog concerts with better promotion and musically more sensible lineups.

The first Generation Prog concert will feature Relocator, Effloresce and Dante and will
take place on February 11, 2011, at the Omega in Erlangen. If you know me, you've
already heard of RelocatorLOL Effloresce are a young but IMHO quite impressive new
prog metal band who are influenced by Dream Theater as much as they are by Opeth -
as a special twist to that they are fronted by a female vocalist... who also plays flute!
Dante are a prog rock/metal band influenced by DT and Pink Floyd. They signed with
ProgRock Records in 2010 and will be presenting material from their new album Saturnine.
We have set up a website with some information about all the bands and audio examples:

www.generation-prog.com

It's in German for now, but we might add English once we have international guests. Smile

Anyway, here's the official flyer for the first Generation Prog live gig:

I know there aren't too many people from Germany posting around
here, but it would be great to see some forumers in the audience! Smile

All the best,
Michael  |  Bass  |  Relocator

Ah, interesting Smile .. unfortunately Erlangen is tooooo far away from my hometown (Herford nearby Bielefeld)

otherwise I would come ... we have lost pROCKfest and pROCKclub last year and chances are rare for me to enjoy prog bands on the stage now Unhappy

Hey everyone,

not sure how many people here live close enough to make it to our mini-festival, but today we've started taking orders for tickets - we'll probably start shipping them around January 22. Smile

Get yours here:
http://shop.generation-prog.com

We have some great media support lined up and three bands ready to kick ass - should be a great evening of prog! Smile

Finally managed to relax a bit after the intense preparation work leading up to our mini-festival. It was a blast! Great performances from all three bands, a very appreciative audience and a fairly packed (although not exactly huge) venue - can't wait to do it again sometime soon!

The first review is already in. It's obviously in German, so to put it in a nutshell for most of you here, they're saying the entire event was awesome and our performance was the pinnacle of the evening (despite this being our first public gig). Woohoo! Big smile

Review in our biggest local paper, the Nürnberger Nachrichten (extended online version):

Their pre-gig interview with yours truly (I was the organizer of the event):

Their awesome high resolution photos from the event:

Thanks! Smile

Here's another very positive review (again, in German) with a photo gallery:

And here's some live footage of the song that opened the evening, Dante's "All My Life":

We'll have some very cool live footage of the Relocator set to share with you soon (with surprisingly awesome sound!), we just need to combine the material from two cameras into a coherent video! Smile
