Hello and happy new year, everyone!  After watching prog bands get paired up with terrible non-prog opening acts or opening for totally unrelated blues rock bands and such, never really getting the kind of promotion that would be needed to get decent-sized audiences, we figured we should try to do better than that. So we started the Generation Prog project - our goal being prog concerts with better promotion and musically more sensible lineups. If you know me, you've already heard of http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=5717" rel="nofollow - Relocator .  http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=74638&title=effloresce-femalefronted-prog-metal" rel="nofollow - Effloresce are a young but IMHO quite impressive newprog metal band who are influenced by Dream Theater as much as they are by Opeth - as a special twist to that they are fronted by a female vocalist... who also plays flute! http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=3858" rel="nofollow - Dante are a prog rock/metal band influenced by DT and Pink Floyd. They signed with ProgRock Records in 2010 and will be presenting material from their new album Saturnine. Finally managed to relax a bit after the intense preparation work leading up to our mini-festival. It was a blast! Great performances from all three bands, a very appreciative audience and a fairly packed (although not exactly huge) venue - can't wait to do it again sometime soon! The first review is already in. It's obviously in German, so to put it in a nutshell for most of you here, they're saying the entire event was awesome and our performance was the pinnacle of the evening (despite this being our first public gig). Woohoo!
