OK this may have been asked before but what ever. What is your dream prog super group line up. Try to choose two guitarists a bassist a singer a drummer and a keys player and if you want and alt percussionist and maybe even a stick guitaristsRawks
Mine would be Robert Fripp, John Petrucci, Bill Bruford, John anderson. Getty Lee, Tony Levin on stick

You're right, it has been done before.  Not with such a limitation on the lineup, though...us avant fans can't quite make a "dream band" without the various other instruments. Wink

Christian Vander - drums/backup vocals
Jamie Muir - percussion
Joachim Florent - bass
Aymeric Avice - trumpet
Fred Frith - guitar
James MacGaw - guitar
Don Van Vliet - alto sax
Esbjorn Svensson - keys
Gary Burton - vibes
Gérard Hourbette - violin/viola
Claude Engel - lead vocals
Meg Baird - lead vocals/dulcimer
Stella Vander - backup vocals

I think that should just about cut it.  At this point, they'll need a conductor too, so I'd better go with Ennio Morricone for that role

Oh, singing in English, not Kobaian

I love how "straight up rock band" all the lineups are except mine and Jon's.  Oh, and I didn't even notice we both used Florent on the upright bass
Rawks

Speaking of that, have you heard this, Jon?

Peter Gabriel c. 1974
Mick Jagger
Jamie Muir
Elvis
Jeffery Hammond-Hammond
Beethoven
Douglas Adams
Will Ferrell's cowbell sketch character
Karl Marx
Damo Suzuki
Six lobsters

All of them are locked up in a recording studio and given accordions, except Damo Suzuki, who provides vocals. His lyrics are provided by an infinite number of monkeys on typewriters.

I'd buy it.

There is no way that would actually sound good. My head hurts just thinking about it. Why so many Japanese people, what happened to the European prog? And what the hell is Ravi Shankar doing there?

I don't know, I don't waste mental energy on things that are never going to happen. :P

Guitar- Steve Hillage
Bass- Mike Rutherford

It would be a jazz/pop instrumental.

Such a supergroup  actually existed: The United Jazz and Rock Ensemble. The reason hardly anyone knows them is that their albums were only available in two shops in Germany or by mail order for a long time. But a supergroup they were; the creme de la creme of European jazz and jazz-rock
