Scenes from a memory. An overrated, derivative pile of nonsense - lyrically and musically.

FII : it's heavy metal with very few prog moments.

And surely the worst album title in the history of rock. Ever.
Who are these people????
Sorry, from what I've heard of Dream Theater (got to be up there as one of the least beguiling bandnames too), they are simply unlistenable - torturously over-produced tripe with all the atmosphere of a rusting bansaw and the emotional prowess of tractor tyre with a breeze block in it.

I voted for Change of Seasons, not because I disliked the album musically, but I think it was one of Labrie's worst sung albums.
Also I'd be interested to hear poeple's reasons for disliking When Dream and Day Unite. Though it has very heavy 80's overtone, I really enjoy it. The intro to The Ones Who Helped to Set the Sun is so dark and almost gives me shivers when I listen to it.

Falling into Infinty is their worst shortlly followed by When Dream and
Day Unite, Falling into Infiinty is extremely mediocreconsidering what
had come before and When Dream and Day Unite sounds VERY amateur, even
if you didnt know who it was most would be able to identify it as a
debut

ToT. James' voice is not suitable for that kind of heaviness. Sad but true.

Train Of Thought. Take crappy metal songs and drag them out to 4 times the length with awful attempts at 'virtuosity' and you get this abomination .

Train of Thought when it first came out. I really could not get into it. But i
soon reverted back to Falling Into Infinity.

Falling Into Infinity is actually among their best. It has a few weaker
songs ( eg. Take away my pain) but quite a few excellent songs as well,
such as Peruvian Skies, New Millennium, Lines in the Sand. WDADU is
fantastic too. It has that 80's sound and the vocalist is actually
quite horrible, far worse than LaBrie, but the songs in themselves are
great! Just think of 'Only a matter of time' , if that's not a great
song, then what is?!
ToT is probably the worst. It's not bad. Endless Sacrifice, This Dying
Soul, Honor Thy Father, all excellent heavy / prog metal songs. But the
fact that it's more heavy than prog is what I don't like. The
influences from Metallica and Iron Maiden (two bands I quite openly
dislike) etc. are just too visible. We don't see the prog side of the
band very much. The songs are mostly just too darn long, a heavy metal
song tends to get boring if it lasts over 5 minutes..

This is a bit OTT..........Unless these two have no metal derivatives in their collection - if they have then I don't understand the antipathy....
