[Welcome back 'the movie and prog theme' in yet another thread].
The Larks Tongue rip-off in the first Emanuelle soft porn movie. And then Goblin effectively having a career writing and playing the soundtrack of many Italian horror movies.

Tangerine Dream has provided music for literally dozens of films, including Sorcerer, Risky Business, The Keep, Mean Streets...
William Friedkin said he would have used Tangerine Dream's music for The Exorcist but he only heard their music after the film was completed (using Tubular Bells).
Crystal Voyager is a surfing movie which features the whole of Pink Floyd's Echoes as the background music for beautiful scenes of the sea (I found the rest of the film instantly forgettable).
And I heard about this film called The Wall which uses one or two Floyd songs.

When it comes to Sigur Ros: their music is used to great effect (sublime, even) in Wes Anderson's THE LIFE AQUATIC. (Almost as good as those slow motion scenes in THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS which feature Nico songs!) |

not any music I know, but the "Twin Peaks" movie has a scene in a bar (somewhere between 10 and 15 minutes long) in which a band on stage plays some great psychedelic stuff. I have no idea who this band are, but would really like to know; so if anybody knows please tell me

not a soundtrack component per sé but i just have to mention the scene in
“school of rock“ (starring jack black) where he hands out CDs to the kids that he has brought into the band, like “fragile“ (YES) to the keyboard player (“listen to the solo in “roundabout“, maaan...) and rush's 2112 to the drummer. i suppose “lost highway“ (david lynch), featuring two tracks by RAMMSTEIN, doesn't count, does it? |

I haven't watched the film in years, but if it features a female singer then it may be Julee Cruise, if it were a male then it might be The Thought Gang... As far as I know all music and lyrics were written by David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti.

Guru Guru starred in a German movie called Notwehr where they more or less played themselves. The band name was changed to Rattenfanger ( Ratcatchers ). They played a few tracks from Tango Fango in it.
I`ve been told some Focus music has been used in porno films as well. |

I believe the song you're referring to is called the Pink Room. (you are talking about the song with the bowed bass, heavy guitars, and a hard driving drum beat?) If so it's only a little over four minutes on the soundtrack, maybe it just seemed that long. I'll have to check my soundtrack CD when I get home, but I think it's not a real band but a Lynch/Badalamenti concoction. Edited by Slartibartfast - January 17 2008 at 10:28 |

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...
