Because all that talking of changin this site into ProgMusic Site, I mean, that is true, Iron Maiden? The Doors? Beatles? Deep Purple? Rainbow? (prog related and proto prog), al those bands are really incredible and they all are history, but, do they need to be included?? IMO I dont think so, Im at this site since the beginin!! and it was awesome to see just pure Progressive Rock and the subgenres!! not the influences, I will really like to change this site to what it was, that is my opinion! what do you think? feel free to discuss

I thinks it's essential to know about the influences, since they play a certain role in the development of progressive music. Even if they aren't pure progressive. So no!

all the talk about changing the name is as stupid as worrying about PR and it's additions...

it's here and it's staying....  and if it is... then the job is to do it right...

they do need to be included... for those who think that Iron Maiden and Metallica aren't at least PR'd... there are those who do.  Where bad things happen is when people take it personally..usually a reflection of their thinking that they know prog and others don't hahha.

there is no such thing as pure progressive rock....  what it is...  and how to define it is up to the listener.  That is why the site is an inclusive site.

feel like a broken record here...

yes, you are right abou that... but if we follow that, almost every genre of music should be here since every musician had their influences from dif konds of music...
Wilson's greatest influence is Drake and i don't see him in here (thnk God), why should Led Zeppelin be here?

i voted for yes...

your post made no sense.....  he was talking about broad trends ... usually for sub-genres or the prog movement as a whole.. not individual artists.  Find a PR addition that influenced one artist in particular.

Zeppelin is here because they were prog-influenced.... did I agree with the addtion...No.... does it make sense though as the owners want it defined... yes...  do I really care if they are here or not....  not one damn bit.

Nope.
They are fine here and still belong.Prog related bands all have prog aspects in their music and without proto there wouldn't be prog.
Oh and btw, when will GOLDEN EARRING be in????

there's a different reason why bands like Zeppelin, DP, IM etc are in here... and it's the same reason why bands like Soul Cages and many others that people here have been suggesting for inclusion and they are PURE prog...

i know that reason and you know that reason...

I don't think any bands should be removed. And if anything i would add more borderline prog bands.Although it depends what the goal of this site is right? If it's to get more people into prog, then be more inclusive.

IMO removing these bands would not be proggressive at all, especially if we assume prog is about ignoring borders and merging different styles and influences.

I voted no.

however, Iron Maiden are on here, I fail to see why.
Mercyful Fate (proto-prog metal perhaps?) are not on here, I fail to see why.
My point is basically that different people might see different things in different bands. One of the most conservative (as in not progressing in any way) bands must be Iron Maiden, I used to like 'em when I was much younger, until I realised they reused the same three chords all the time (for those of you with some knowledge of music theory it's I-VI-VII eg E-C-D).
As for DT who are also here, I never really liked them all that much (I do like Meshuggah so the loud music doesn't bother me), because it always reminds of other music, Metallica is popular so DT start sounding like them, Meshuggah is the next hot thing, so DT have to sound like them. on Octavarium there's a pop-ballad! that sounds like ROBBIE WILLIAMS!!!!ShockedOuchDisapprove when will they start sounding like themselves?? Apparently a lot of you like them anywayErmm

But I still like seeing a wide variety of proggy stuff (some of it, especially the older stuff  was actually truly progressive, as in progressing through unchartered territory, boldly going where no band has gone beforeGeek)
