I see so many people getting into this album, and I don't "get" it. I like Prog Metal, especially Opeth. But this I just don't "get." Everyone is calling it a masterpiece, but what am I missing?

Prog... It's good.

If you're into Aenima, you're not missing anything. If, like me, you find Aenima way overrated, this is Tool's best album.

If everyone is calling it a masterpiece, you are not obliged to follow the majority.

It's definitely not a masterpiece, I agree, but a solid four star affair.

Hey, not everybody likes the same thing. If we did, the world would be boring as hell.
Tool is one of those bands where there's virtually no middle ground - you either love 'em or you hate 'em. Same goes for the Mars Volta.

I've seen plenty of comments from people who don't think it's as good as Lateralus. Opinion seems to be divided - I think it's great.

I like it a hell of a lot more than some of the other 2006 releases I've purchased lately.

Each to his own of course.... But it is a masterpiece. PERIOD. I just get "that feeling" when I listen to it.

You've just had a heavy session of electroshock therapy, and you're more relaxed than you've been in weeks.

All three albums are different goals. Fans are different eras of intro metal fans.

I think it's good but not a masterpiece. But if it was the same as Lateralus,it would have been disappointing. To me Lateralus is their masterpiece, but I don't think they peaked with that album.Their sound has always evolved, and will continue to do so.I expect some more "masterpieces" from them in the future.10,000 just isn't one, imo.
