Thought I'd see what the rest of the forum thought of the album. Yes, there is another poll regarding this album, but it's more about how you thought the album would turn out.

I personally see it as a triumph equal to Lateralus.

I've given it a couple of listens by now and cannot rank it among Lateralus...maybe because I've put Lateralus in a throne...The album is good but I can't say it's as good as the spiritual Lateralus....gees....can you guys believe that maybe these guys will make us wait 5 more years for their next release? Will I go crazy?

Right now I think it is equal to Lateralus, but not better. It is very different from Lateralus though.

I have to listen to it some more,my opinion might change over time.

Different, but equally good as Lateralus.

BTW: I don't think it's a "comeback" ... they just took their time. Comeback would imply that they released some mediocre albums in between Lateralus and this one, which they did not.

I like it worse than Lateralus so far... but a solid effort nonetheless.

I connected with 10,000 better than Lateralus, so it gets a slight nudge.

Above I said "different" ... more specifically, I think it's a bit less progressive than Lateralus. I'm sure that many people expected another concept album, instead they made a mixed album with a very loose concept and really different moods and sounds. IMO that was a very good decision.

Point taken, I just thought "comeback" sounded more dramatic than "return"Big smile.

So was there anyone who liked Lateralus but disliked 10,000 Days?

It's just my thought, but i believe that 10,000 days is more than Lateralus... it has more of the dark-depressive sound atmosfere, more tense...

Although all TOOL albums are exceptional, I think 10,000 Days is definately their most mature and emotional album to date.  I love it more and more each time I listen to it!

I've not listened to it nearly enough to have a firm opinion, but it is very good so far.

Not as good. Lateralus is a Jewel; 10.000 days is a bit inferior. Plus, I heard somewhere that the next TOOL album was supposede to be a colaboration between Maynard and Reznor. I don't see it... that would be interesting.

I think it's about as good, but I totally need to listen to it more... I don't think it's grown on me enough yet.

A sub par guitarist , a singer with 2 octaves max , songs that all make one want to commit suicide without a hint of positivety , a blind fan base largely run by  teenagers without direction in their lives, "Yes we know its nothing new its just a waist of time who cares about that silly tool who seem to decide prog rocks plan". Wink

I listened but once again I didn`t enjoy
