Hey, I'm from the future, and after reading the regulations for this forum, I see that there is nothing to prohibit time travelers such as myself from posting here, so here goes. What is progarchives.com like in the year 2012 you may be asking ? Well, thanks to innovative people such as Tony R, the boundaries of prog rock increased tremendously. So what are the most popular "prog" bands of 2012 you may be asking ? Well, I prefer the "kinda related to bands related to proto-quasi-pseudo-prog related bands" genre- such giants as Britney Spears and N-Sync, although some would argue that the Backstreet Boys belong in the "Not quite prog, but have had sex with groupies who once had sex with a member of Genesis, Yes, or ELP" genre. I find the BB's to be quite the prog band, yes sir. I don't care for the "Ugly cabbage patch doll looking drummers who were in a prog band" genre, but have been known to enjoy some "they can play this here geetar" genre which includes such prog greats as Journey, Boston, and of course- REO Speedwagon. So prog music has expanded in the year 2012 thanx to progarchives increasingly liberal definition of prog. In my time, all music is prog and prog is all music. As prog great Barry Manilow once said, "I write the songs, I write the songs" So why am I here ? The ripples in the time space continuum told me that this was close to the moment when prog (as people in my time know it) started down that slippery slope. Yes it was the inclusion of prog greats "Triumph" and "George Michaels" which did it, folks. Well, I gotta get back before my flux capacitor loses its power. Prog on.

My point is that the people who run this site by including Styx, Triumph, etc. think they can turn people on to prog by including "Prog related". Instead, you water down the genre and you have fans of styx thinking they listen to prog when they really don't

Meh! None of the inappropriate bands added here have made a general
impression...they have not distrubed the balance of immortal prog
(yet?).

I move that all the artists you mentioned be added at least under prog related.

Well, they do use the same 12 note scale that prog artists do, so they must be related under the very ambiguous "prog-related" definition. |

You are from the Phillipines ? In 2012, there is a popular prog singer from the Phillipines which does Dan Fogelberg cover tunes.

i guess meurg doesn' like 2012 humor. it's ok. i happen to know that in the year 2012, he will become a huge "pretty fly prog" sub genre fan. In 2012, Meurg will absolutely do anything to see his favorite hip-hop-prog band in concert. |
