This thread's in the wrong section, but I'll let that slide 'cause you're a newbie. Muse... Their first two albums were neeeeearly prog, and I half-wondered if Absolution would show them taking the plunge. It didn't though, as they've turned tail and fled into full-scale indie rock. A real pity, but who knows what could happen in future times? They're also my girlfriend's favourite band... like anyone needs to know that. |

I wouldn't call myself a fan, but I do like them. I accept they are just about 'prog related'

I like 'em - but I don't think they've changed their spots - just their producer. They used to be produced by John Leckie (who also produced Radiohead), but Absolution is produced by Rich Costey (The Mars Volta and others). If anything, they've become more progressive - listen to Matt's Rachmaninov imitations... or read some of my review. http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_CD. asp?cd_id=9885

I agree with Cert. Brilliant band and they certainly have a place on this site.
And more proof to the fact that ratings without reviews HAVE to be deleted. |

I don't really care for them. And I don't really see why they are included in the archives, because they aren't prog. But I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. |

I really like Muse.
I don't care if it's Prog or not. I don't listen to ProgRock, I listen to good music, which happens to be ProgRock most of the time. (Yeah, I love ProgRock.) But Muse is really good music! |

I love Muse if there is one band that may get the teeny bopping, fickle top of the pop fans in to prog its them, the Best band in Britian at the momeny by far! Ok Showbiz isnt very proggy but Origin of Symmatry most certainly is! with lost of intresting ideas, just look at plug in baby how many people would use a scale as an intro! whilst Sing for Absolution is most definatly a continuation from Origin with some very interesting ideas some almost classical ideas such as the piano breakdow in butterflies and hurricanes yet there are some songs on there that would not look out of place on Showbiz such as Hystieria so its almost a melting pot of both, plus Sing for Absolution is very much piano driven unlike th other two which are much more guitar driven... I could go on but il stop here.

*rolls eyes* Oh well. I've never had much to do with band admissions so I'll just keep myself to myself then. |

Muse are my favorite band ever. I've seen em' four times. If it weren't for them, I would never have had the urge to try out Crimson, Yes, and others. Thank you Muse.

Greats vocals, great guitar work, good drummer, and a very rythmical bassist. I should say they're a great band, almost as good as radiohead, but they're on the way. Good adittion to ProgArchives.. |

Dear All,
Thanks for the responses, but I DO think MUSE is prog. related, and heading to become progressive in many senses. Their music is electrifying, with fantastic lyrics, many of them with a dark philosophy to them; and wonderfully crafted mood transitions. Keyboard work is excellent as well. Anyway, all a matter of good taste, isn't it?? Anyway, no argument here please about whether it's prog or not, but let's ALL agree though that it DOES belong in archives....PUHLEEZ? Newbie, or no newbie, I love this group! |
