I bang on about these two UK 70's folk lps all the time but they have some of the eeriest atmospheres (apart from the obvious Comus First utterance) of Folk; they are 'Mr Fox' by Mr Fox and 'Bright Phoebus' by Mike and Lal Waterson. You didnt ask for for contemporary artists but if you had i would say Richard Dawson's 'Peasant' would win hands down.

eerie = strange in a frightening and mysterious/angst-inducing way. Much of what's been suggested isn't frightening

PP's list is much more on par with some of his choices.
let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword
