Great poll idea and compilation of all of the previous polls!  Wow, we sure have done a lot of them and covered such a wide range of topics.  

^ It is a very pleasant reminder of how terrific these have been.

^^ Thanks Nickie. Even if you aren't planning to take part and probably would not want to do this as you like to fully participate, a reminder to those that they can nominate bonus ones if they don't think that they will have time to listen through everyone's nominations and select three.

Here are some option "b" criterion mentions from a very favourite act of mine (I did nominate a Portishead elsewhere)


"b) One can bring up a track or tracks for potential nomination that one rather wished or wishes (or simply choose to now) one had thought of for an earlier Interactive poll, or thought of but didn't mention."

Actually, I lost an edited post when I put the topic up and it timed out. That option should explicitly include ones that one didn't know at the time. It probably doesn't matter, but since those criteria are important, I wish I had the fuller and better put version.

Portishead - SOS

This would have been a great one for the Interactive Poll X: Cover Your Ears! and for the recent Interactive poll: How are you today?. I did not yet know it at the time of the covers poll methinks, so I would not have thought of it then. My nominations in the cover + original poll (I love the duos) there were the original Julee Cruise version of "Into the Night" and a Xiu Xiu cover from a Xiu Xiu Twin peaks cover album. I went with Michael Gira's (of Swans) "Blind" for the "How are you today?" poll.

So in keeping with that duos poll expectations, here are videos for the ABBA original and the cover.





And here's another Portishead of the I wish I had though of that but I didn't know it yet variety. Had the poll been done more recently, this likely would have been my nomination for the Interactive poll No. -46 2/3 - the folk music poll I had gone with Mark Fry's "The Witch", which I do love. The Portishead piece would be one that I wished I could have also included now (had I known it).

I have listened through everybodys several times (not many have been posted) and I really enjoyed the playlist.

Cristi, I really like all of yours, and don't take this as a recommendation for your choice as all very, very fine to my ears, but one of yours I sort of remember but don't "know" well is the Child track "Little Light" (from 1969)* that I really liked.   Not sure if you nominated that in Lorenzo's "We Love the Sixties" or another poll or if it was one you wished you had thought of for a poll. I think I remember hearing it from you before and maybe commenting on it. I seem to remember the Phoenix you mentioned from that one.

*I should say that I have listened to the Child track and various others the most in the context of the playlist which is in order of submission, and the fact is that because "Little Light" follows that noisy Melt-Banana track, with the contrast it becomes more like a breath of fresh air and enjoyable to my ears. :) When it comes to playlists, a track might well appeal more depending on what came before it (and after).

Lorenzo, I appreciated your track very much and the info that went with it.

Christian: I love that Laura Veirs' Secret Someones. It's a kind of thing I have been digging for these last couple of years.

And I forgot to mention that the Portishead cover of Abba's "SOS" would have fit the "Interactive Poll: Emotional songs (female)" topic very well, amongst others. There is another Emo female one that I want to mention if I can remember it.

Sorry for the excessive OP, which may be off-putting. It will be long due to the list of polls with descriptions but I got a bit silly and fanciful when talking about the poll. I wish I'd taken the time to edit it to make it more succinct/ readable in some places, more organised, and be more descriptive in others. I do hope more people will want to participate (just two days in now). It probably would be a more challenging topic for many than most others, some different expectations and there are more pressing things going on in the world to be concerned about that would I think be likely to limit participation. An easier distraction might have been better, although I have been wanting to do this concept for a very long time, but I expected it would have its challenges. At least it's nice to revisit the old polls.... See how it goes.... EDIT: And that we don't have Nicky to comment on the choices probably, and Kees is out. might well mean less involvement... Definitely one of the biggest enjoyments for me in these is reading the comments by people such as Nickie and I know I always would look forward to hers (lots of anticipation here for those comments from the talented commentators here - ever grateful for those).

@Greg, great idea and thanks for all the links to the past polls. I can easily get sucked up into that. I have been quite busy with work and still need to vote in the previous pill. I do have some past suggestion to put up and will try over the weekend when I should have a bit more time so I can say a few words.
