Not Running out of Camel

Nevermind, this thread is silly, there is still more and more Camel to come across.

Have you heard Rain Dances? It's my personal favorite.

Yeah, I was thinking after Caravan one might wish to explore more of the Canterbury Scene, then those might be some more accessible Canterbury Scene ones to get into. Gong Shamal might be a good one.   And to not mention one as Canterbury Scene, Renaissance would I think appeal to many into Camel. But the OP may well know it already. And in Prog Folk, Gryphon.

Aside from the first four albums by Camel, I agree with verslibre that Rain Dances is worth checking out if you haven't already.

Those are the same albums I have... though I have a The Snow Goose within the live album A Live Record... that one is good too. I also have a compilation album called Moonmadness... and it actually made me feel the same as you, that they did their best on their first 4 albums, before they started changing members. So, you might still find something to love from their first album. I have read many times that their album Rajaz is very good too, though I have not gotten to buying it, but I would like to get that one, plus the live album from around the same time, Coming of Age.

I actually think there are plenty of good albums after the first four Camel albums. ICSYHFH has my personal favourite Camel track "Ice" while Breathless is my favourite Camel album. Then there's Stationary Traveler and Nude from the 1980's which are two great albums. It doesn't end there. Harbour of Tears and Rajaz are also great.

Speaking of live albums, I love Camel's double-album A Live Record (1978), especially for the The Snow Goose (The Snow Goose is my favourite Camel studio album -- the original I mean). I read a review which loved the first half, but found the second half of A Live Record pointless, which is a version of The Snow Goose, so of course opinions vary.

As another Canterbury Scene/ Sound suggestion, since sometimes Camel is lumped in with that scene/ sound or considered Canterbury Scene/ Sound related, Soft Machine is a favourite of mine, and Camel opened for Soft Machine and was an influence. The Jazz-Rock Brand X is one that I would think might well scratch some of that jazzy Camel itch.
