Cheers Tymon - that is currently my go-to Faust album right there. Gotta love the banana! Have you by any chance checked out their collaboration with experimental hip hop artist Dälek? I think I reviewed it once actually, but yeah a very interesting record - especially if you aren't into all that yo yo mumbo jumbo.
Me today: Grachan Moncur lll - Evolution The Future Sound Of London - Lifeforms The Future Sound Of London - Papua New Guinea Material - Hallucination Engine Suicide - s/t Arbete & Fritid - Andra PFM - L'Isola di Niente Weather Report - I Sing The Body Electric (one of the finest fusion albums ever produced! Who cares about Jaco Pastorius? ![]() Klaus Schulze - Privée (don't miss this one Schulze fans! Best Berliner schule release of 2016 hands down) Edited by Guldbamsen - December 27 2016 at 14:37 |

Just playing that `Privée' album on YouTube now, Dave, thanks for the tip-off, sounds really nice and chilled, cool mix of beats, everything from dub to trip-hop, with a pinch of mellow Floyd thrown in.

Cheers mate
![]() I thought you'd like it. I really love when Klaus incorporates a bit of an IDM touch to his music. That's what made Moonlake so brilliant. On here it is rather beautifully enhanced by those velvety guitar lines. Top stuff really. |

I've heard bits of their album with Dälek when they popped up at a thread called asking if there is such thing as progressive rap or something. Will have to read your review and, obviously, listen to the album, it seems very promising. I like these kinds of things that go out of the box. ![]() Sun Ra - The Solar Myth Approach, Vols. 1 Sun Ra's more experimental material, for me at least, recquires a special mood to be fully enjoyed and this one is no exception. And this is great. I could listen to Sun Ra hitting the keys of his clavinet all day with that gentle, but suggestive accompaniament the upright bass gives. If I'm not mistaken, i can also hear some electronic experimentation here. Very nice! Weather Report - I Sing the Body Electric Ineed, David, this is top-notch fusion. Very uncompromising and, as far as I'm informed, like nothing else before. Different sounds blend in such unearthly manners to create this beautiful music. The first Weather Report album, though, I prefer just slightly over this one - highly likely because of the sentimental value it has. However, that might change. Excellent music. |

Cheers, fellas, glad you dig it as much as I do! I should have explained that I picked this up as a recent CD reissue, so it was something like $16, not the extravagant original vinyl price! ![]() ![]() Edited by Aussie-Byrd-Brother - December 28 2016 at 15:28 |

^ I think it was my third listen, and I saw them play some of these songs. I remember the (very small) crowd went wild with "A Crack in the Ice"

When I used to work at a supermarket/shopping centre a lifetime ago, there was a music chain store upstairs called Sanity, and all it ever catered for was the most tedious of commercial dance music and pop top 40 singles. I remember one lunch-time I was trying to kill some minutes, so I just randomly started flicking through their shelves...I was a right prog-snob back then, so cue me scoffing and grunting in mocking disgust at most of what I flicked past, and then all of a sudden - Arena's `The Visitor' was there!! ![]() I don't mind the album, but it's got my least favourite Arena vocalist on it (mental blank on his name), and I seem to lose interest by about the half-way mark. I can't even think off the top of my head anything in the second half of the disc. It still seems to be considered their `classic' by many of the fans. ***** Tonight's choices, mostly RPI stuff: Ivan Grazioni – Ballata per Quattro Stagioni Festa Mobile – Diario di Viaggaio della Festa Gruppo 2001 – L’Alba di Domani Osanna – L’Uomo Nuovo Idea – Clowns Celeste – Principe di un Giorno King Crimson – In the Wake of Poseidon Yes – Close to the Edge Baumann/Koek - s/t Edited by Aussie-Byrd-Brother - December 29 2016 at 06:51 |

^^ omg gentlemen! Just as I'm listening to ARENA! Guess it's that holiday prog spirit? Lol.
Oh and mr. Sam. It's Paul Wrightston who's that 2nd Arena vocalist hired on. ;) Arena-- Breakfast in Biarritz ( it's this and Live & Life that are 2 of Arena's very best live albums. ) Dream Theater-- The Astonishing (what a time killer!) Dream Theater-- The Score ( I really can't say enough about this one. It's so true to life. One of the very best live albums I've ever heard. ) Genesis-- 3 Sides Live ( watched this on Blu ray as well. Phil sounds really in control and his performance of Dodo/Lurker is the best you'll find live on this one. Great command. ;) Hibernal-- Replacements. ( beautiful atmospheric music. Emotive guitar and a great storyline. Very BLADERUNNER Esq.. ) Vangelis-- BLADERUNNER soundtrack. ( 3 disc edition. This is a great way to close out a music listening session. ) |
