Anybody else out there who have heard the incognito Klaus Schulze albums recorded under the name of Richard Wahnfried?
I am waiting on two of em and I can't wait
No, I haven't heard them I'm afraid.
Klaus has such a large catalogue, I wonder if anybody possibly has all his albums? I have quite a few albums of his but I'm light years from completing the set.
If you were to expose me to Electronic Prog, what album would you use ? My history with the genre isn't as bright and shiny as I would like to, so I am trying to find a way somehow. I always am.
Depends what you are already into. I would say start with Tangerine Dream's Force Majuere and then move on to Klaus Schulze's Moondawn.
Very nice recs there Darryl. I would add the more current act Zombi and their Spirit Animal release, which too sports drumming and the occasional symphonic touch.
I guess most outsiders will better relate to electronic music that at least bears some resemblance to rock.

Zombi's fantastic! Additionally, Steve Moore and A.E. Paterra record solo albums that are purely electronic and thoroughly wonderful and exciting.
Moore's newest one is Light Echoes, released last Fall, and Paterra just issued Solar Maximum, the second solo release under his pseudonym Majeure.

Vangelis - "Albedo" and "Spiral".
Couple of The Sparks albums.
Ozric Tentacles.
Vangelis is one of my favorite composers'. My earliest material of his is "Heaven and Hell" and "Albedo 0.39", both totally different. One of PA reviewers just recently reviewed a Vangelis album that I really did not know of, "The Dragon". Here is the link...
ABB, if you see this, great review! I hope to find and/or hear this Vangelis album. China is one of my favorites by him, but I have not heard all his stuff.
Neon Eyes, Sparks...is the Mael brothers band that had some fame in the 70s? If so, they were quite odd and entertaining...
A friend introduced me to this guy a couple months back - such a great talent. Based out of Chicago, he's been around for like almost 15 years now, if I'm not mistaken. Really great IDM, Ambient Electronic, Drum N Bass - I highly suggest you check out his other stuff. Sounds a lot like Aphex Twin, especially the last half of the song - Rhubarb, anyone?
^Nice one Foxy! Heard it a couple of times yesterday
If you like that sorta thing, then you should definitely check out some Material. Whilst a long ways from that clip, it still is IDM, although paired together with Indian floating fusion. I think I posted some vids of em in here a little while back actually...
IMO a true modern day masterpiece of progressive music.

Seeing as this is the electronic prog thread, I thought I'd venture out beyond the 'normal' PE - and talk about Material. I just reviewed their Hallucination Engine, that combines IDM, fusion and ethnic instrumentation. Sounds trippy - and it is, but I am almost certain that it will find its way into you hearts, if you just open up a bit. This is some of the most soothing, progressive, forward thinking and seductive music I've heard in a while - and if any of you love The Future Sound of London or Massive Attack, you should definitely check this one out:
Yup. This penguin is going to the mall.

A big to David and Max for those ^. Nice.
I don't know if any of you guys have heard or have Far Away Trains Passing By, by Ulrich Schnauss. This is an incredible electronic album that somehow
had passed under my radar. How I do not know. It's a double album with some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard. Hints of BoC but with an almost Sigur Ros melancholic vibe to it.
I know it wouldn't stand a chance of being given inclusion on PA, but this is what I call real progressive electronic music. Truly one of the best albums I have heard
this century.
