10 - "Magnu" Hawkwind

Good job so far guys. The scrambled artist isn't necessarily one word (hint hint).
Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal.

Therefore it's Anthony Phillips and something from The Geese and the Ghost.

Indeed the final unknown clip is "Henry; portraits from Tudor times" by Anthony Phillips.

Here I come to rescue this jolly thread with my first "soundcraft" experiment in a lifetime. Big smile

There are 15 bands to unveil.

The rules are still the same. All the bands and artists featured are on PA, and with the first letter of each band (or of last name for an artist), you get an anagram for another band (or artist). The clip lengths are longer than Trouserpress', so you should have plenty of time to swallow each one, but on the whole they're hardly less RIO/avant-oriented, so I still expect that they'll be tough to identify. Evil Smile

As a head start for everyone, I give away "Etron Fou Leloublan" already, because Windows Media Player stuck that label to my montage and I could not make it vanish from the information pannel... Pinch

Wow! There are some tasty little clips in there... I might have to check out some of the ones I don't recognise...

This is a little tough for me right now because my hard drive went kaput last week so I can't cross-reference much. Lots of them sound familiar to me but some not enough to make a decent guess:

1. Something Italian? Osanna, maybe?
5. Ozric Tentacles
6. Picchio Dal Pozzo (my favourite moment on that album!)
9. That bubbly organ... It's SO familiar to me but I just can't put my finger on it right now. I'm going to say Soft Machine, but I'm really not sure that's right at all.
11. Mike Oldfield
12. This is the Anglagard track, right?
14. The voice really sounds like Haco so I'm going to say After Dinner

Thanks for reviving this thread, by the way!

Wait, that definitely IS Soft Machine! Moon in June, innit?

Edit: No, wait... Maybe not. I don't have time to check the whole track. Gah!

1. Tortoise - I set my face to the hillside

Albert Marcoeur - Appalderie

& a Can track of future days, cannot remember which one tho'

It's not Soft Machine.

There was a track that faintly reminded me of Guapo but I don't think it was them.

Yes, 12 is Anglagard's Kung Bore

That must mean 15 is Etron Fou Leloublan ('cause it reminds me of Volapuk and they both feature Guigou Chenevier on drums).

A lot of good guesses already, great work! Clap

1. Tortoise - I set my face to the hillside is correct!
5. Ozric Tentacles is correct! The track's Pteranodon from Jurassic Shift.
6. Picchio dal Pozzo is correct. The track's Seppia from their eponymous album and I've always found the bass line on this track reminiscent of Pteranodon, hence why I put both tracks next to each other.
9. is indeed Can - Spray (the track on Future Days that I tend to overlook a lot, though it is at least as magnificient as the rest). I can clearly hear the similarity with Moon in June now that you mention it Trouserpress!
10. King Crimson - Cirkus is correct!
11. Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells is correct!
12. Anglagard - Kung Bore is correct!
13. Albert Marcoeur - Appalderie, from his first eponymous album, is correct!
14. After Dinner, track name After Dinner, is correct! Not actually a band I know very well yet, but I needed a candidate for an A and they happened to be on my ReR sampler CD. Tongue
15. is not Etron Fou Leloublan, though you're definitely in the right alley, James.

That gives us...

T***OP**CKOAMA*

...but one of the * is Etron Fou Leloublan, so there are really only 5 bands left to identify. I expect that one of them should be easy, but 2 are slightly more obscure... Smile

Good luck!
-Hitler was a vegetarian.
-Bring me coffee or tea.
-Why don't you eat carrots?
-Eat that question.

Trouserpress, is it possible that you post all the musics from your quiz's clips again? I found out that its a good way for me to get to know some new good stuff

I don't think Goblin is in there, or it would have sneaked in without my consent.

Guess I'll have to check them out though, since they appear to sound like something else I like. Smile

So 15 isn't a Volapuk track then?

And one of them (the drum-heavy one), I forget which number, sounded like Kulu Hatha Mamnua but I don't presume it is them. LOL

No Volapuk, no Kulu Hatha Mamnua and no Guapo either. Smile

15 is by a band that was definitely influenced by Etron Fou Leloublan and its offshoots though. If I give any more hint, I might give it away, but... the information in my profile may be of help.

And if I'm not mistaken, the drum-heavy track you're refering to has already correctly been identified as Albert Marcoeur. I would have thought you already knew that crackhead specimen! Wink
