Use a picture?  C'mon people, the math ain't that hard!

°C  x  9/5 + 32 = °F

(°F  -  32)  x  5/9 = °C

^ Nats can do his brainiac mathematical conversions -- the rest of us can just refer to the thermometer on the right! Wink

We are out of that arctic air mass as of yesterday. Temperature here now is a much more livable -19C. Thus, we will likely get more snow soon -- very cold air connot hold much moisture. We tend to get the extreme cold on clear, dry days. (One notices lots of static electricity inside on such days, too.)

Vibe: earlier in this thread you listed -45C in Montreal Shocked -- no way were you that much colder than us here, and so much further south. That temperature had to be with wind chill factored in, no? Confused

All of the temps I've listed lately have just been the actual ambient (still) air temperature. Thankfully, there was no wind here during our recent period of extreme cold, so walking to work actually wasn't too painful or dangerous.

Did you know that "wind chill factor" only applies to we living creatures? It's a subjective measure -- how the cold feels in the wind, as the wind "wicks" your body heat away. It has no bearing whatsoever on unliving objects, such as your car. If the actual temperature is -20, but with wind chill at -35, say, then to your car, for starting purposes, it is still only -20. The car's oil and engine block will be at -20, not -35.

OK, this is to announce to all of you that, after a couple of months of 'false alarms', snow has finally come to the Washington DC metro area... When I got up earlier this morning, I drew the blinds and was greeted by a gorgeous, almost unreal white and grey landscape - the likes of which I hadn't seen for almost eight years, since I left Finland. Of course, I am sure this will cause no end of problems to those who are out and about for work (including my dear husbandHeart), but seen from the comfortable interior of your own home it looks really beautiful.

Dude, I feel for you. We have had only five 100F plus days here in Perth since November, our highest being only a paltry 41.8C ( 107.24F ) LOL

I have just had a whole-of-house evaporative cooler fitted and the days have been great Tongue ( I'm not too sure it is doing my record collection any good, though. The covers feel as if they have some level of moisture in them, which is a worry because I fear they may go mouldy Ouch )

Well the British winter has now just about reverted to type - ie grey skies, drizzle, not cold enough to freeze, but just cold enough to irritate...

It has stuck big time here, and now turned to iceUnhappy... Micky won't be going to work today, as the roads are almost impassable, and the schools will be closed. It seems it is next to impossible to walk, especially as the complex where we live is situated on a hill.

Well, all of my classes were canceled today because of a crazy snowstorm today in Cleveland.

We definitely got cancelled; I'm about 4 hours south of you.

We had a mix of snow, freezing rain, and ice. It's nasty!

Hell yeah I got snow.  Got off school today for it too.  It's already covered and now it's still pouring down.  It's pissing me off too, I need to go see somebody and the roads are too bad.

Your equation is giving me the brain freeze. LOL  In my area the snow is falling in the form of rain.  Eh, the birds sh*t bombed my truck at the office yesterday, so much for my executive parking space, and hey they rain does help wash off the bird crap. LOL

believe it not... there is an equation for that as well.... mathematicians can put anything into equations hahah.

X = chance of sh*t removal from your ride due to falling precipitation  (in percent)

X = 100 x (b+c+d)/a

a = number of crap marks on carb
b= number of times you have won the lottery
c= number of playboy centerfolds you've ... gotten to know
d= number of airline crashes you've walked away from

75 as one of the coldest temperatures? Woah, that's way too hot for me.

I prefer 75 as a higher temperature. LOL

Amen, that's what we've got in the U.S. NW.  Had a little snow yesterday morning before it turned to drizzle.  I do get tired of drizzle/grey, but it's a livable climate vs. when we had the snow onslaught in December and no one was going anywhere.

My last winter in Wyoming (hence why it was my last) from November through March temp never got above 32F/0C.  Had the misfortune of working an outside job at the time.  It occurs to me this was during ELP's "Works" era which may have given me a negative bias to those albums just on general weather principles. Wink
