My most clearcut cases are:
Kansas, I always find myself enjoying and playing more often "Monolith" and "Audiovisions" than any of their previous records and they aren't very prog compared to the early 70's records. Genesis, I certainly like "Calling All Stations" more than any post Invisible Touch records, though in the 70's output my tastes are pretty much the norm. Steve Hackett, I like "Please don't touch" more than even "Spectral Mornings" and "Voyage of the Acolyte". With Mars Volta there's no doubt "Deloused" is the best album, BTW Mr. Steve Hackett mentioned them as a good current group when we met him in Mexico City, though I already knew them and enjoyed them.
Greetings
Mogens

In my circle of friends i am the one who listens to the most unconventional music..
But I totally love the british Pop Band "The Coral"
Most Of my friends say they are far to poppy and especially i with my progressive taste shouldn´t like them

Haven't read through the whole thread, this has probably been mentioned already.
I love Tormato; On The Silent Wings Of Freedom is reason enough to get it, my favorite Yes song.

As for Tool, I like Undertow just as much as Aenima and Lateralus (I think I like 10,000 Days better than all of them, though )
The Power and the Glory is my favorite GG album, which is unusual... I think

I REALLY like all the Pink Floyd albums from A Saucerful Of Secrets to Obscured by Clouds (especially Ummagumma), except for Meddle, one of my least favorite albums. When Waters took over, everything got too... complain-ey.
