Interactive Poll #16 - Under Cover

I think I'm going to stick with the first one of my choices.  I typically have kind of stuck with the "original" idea, of a main nomination with 2 alternates, and an option to change my mind by time to advise on final nomination and voting, although I added Carol Tatum later, as so many were posting metal covers.  I also like bring lesser-knowns to the table, although RT is probably kind of famous for being a known-not-known performer.  Also, tried to stick with well-known songs being covered.  That all being said, Sileas with "Ain't No Sunshine," will be my choice to nominate.  I think they really made this their own in a completely different way than the original, not just a remake, but gave it another layer.

I'm not sure which one to nominate of the ones I've posted either.  Other than the wonderful reviews by Nicki, I haven't seen any feedback, so I'll probably screw up again and nominate something that no one will like

As mentioned, my choice is Sort Sol - Ode To Billie Joe

I decided I won't listen to a song before I have heard the original versions. Meaning that I had to check out "So You Want To Be A Rock'n Roll Star" by the Byrds and "Never Let Me Down" by Depeche Mode. The other songs I knew in advance.

My first video is almost always my pick. Although I suspect that that version of ELP’s “Trilogy” would be more popular and in that case I actually prefer it to the original — I also would expect that quite a few would know it already; I know I’ve posted it many times over the years.

By the way, I should have also thought of that the Cardigans BS cover as I posted it a topic of mine recently. I’ve also been very into The Cardigans of late, and a lot of 90s indie/ art/ chamber pop music.

Speaking of Friday, this Bob Dylanesque cover of Rebecca Blacks’s “Friday” is I think a great improvement on the original.

A definite improvement. I think the first and only time I heard Rebecca Black's Friday was actually on PA in a worst pop songs of all time (or something like that) thread a couple of years back.  

I think I stick with Senor Coconuts' Robots, which had most positive mentions. Visionary Mountains may be less known than I thought, but it doesn't feel like a cover to me, knowing it so much better than the original. John Cale, Mona Mur, and Domonique Horwitz would all have been worthy selections but ultimately it has to boil down to one...
