+1. I really, really miss the guy. Cry

Yeah, I agree too. The new drummer is also good, but he's not making such original things, like Lopez did.
I do like Watershed, though

He's good and all, but there are few drummers that are as good as Lopez. God I miss him...

Soo been while since I made this thread. With time to gather results.....surprise surprise! The winners are Carey and Portnoy..... LOL

I must say, been listening to Opeth a lot as of late. Shame they were never big in the metal, (or prog metal scene) Martin Lopez was one hell of a drummer!

Oh, a drummer I never thought of before:

Igor Cavalera
Been listening to alot of Sepultura and his drumming on Beneath the Remains, Arise and Chaos AD is brilliant. However, while different its really cool on Roots and post Max albums like Nation and Dante XXI also show brilliant drumming.

Add to the list: Van Williams of Nevermore. AMAZING! Fast and technical. Good prog metal too.
Honorable mentions to: Dave Lombardo (for his thrash metal innovation and some decent skill) and John Dolmayan from SOAD. Never thought of him much before, but been listening alot and his stuff is surprisingly good.

Lombardo.  There may be better drummers than him, but not many who are more metal than him. Wink
