If you want to listen to Feedbacker at its best I highly recommend you check out their recent live album with Merzbow.  Feedbacker or even the band never sounded so blissful and downright dirty.

.... I suddenly got an extreme urge to play the album now, but I'll wake up everyone if I do so.Tongue

Well I got & Yet & Yet by Do Make Say Think yesterday, and it's pretty good, but it needs some time to sink in, just like Winter Hymn Country Hymn Secret Hymn did.  I liked You, You're a History of Rust after my first listen though.

i've really been digging The Samuel Jackson Five!!  thanks again to Proletariat for the recommendation.  They sound to me like a mix of Tortoise and Neil On Impression if i had to pick 2 to compare them to.  good stuff Thumbs%20Up

also, here's a link to a very good post-rock song.  another slow-built, up-beat, Oceansizeish, alt/post-rock/metal song.  the rest of their songs sound VERY different...hardcore,screaming, and madness....not my favorite, but others might like.  check it!

I've been digging NORTH ("Ruins" mostly) and SEA OF BONES recently. The latter is amazing evil sludge a-la early NEUROSIS. Wicked!

I read that sleugh of reviews you did on the front page Igor nice.

Any of you guys heard Coptic light? They're a very progressive math rock band, with they're self titled album only having three songs, and all the songs being ten minuetes long! Usually I cant take a lot of math rock at one time, but these guys are up there with Tera Melos!

^^^^  I recently discovered them and I'm still getting into them. They remind me of a less abrasive The Flying Luttenbachers. Good stuff.

LOVE THEM!
They where my first Stoner Rock band and Snailking was the first album I heard from them. It's still one of the heaviest albums in my collection and love it to bits. Lucifer Songs is an OK album, but not as good as Snailking. The same thing can be said about the Lent0 split.

I didn't knew they recently released a new album. I'll check it out.

BTW, you may also like their label-mates Morkobot.

New band I've just discovered, Micrographia. Two Ep's out, I've heard the second, and sources say better, of the two "Everything Will Turn To Heat". I thought it was very well done indeed! Nothing new or mindblowing, but the music was very crisp and clean and had a passion to it that a lot of bands lack nowadays. I didn't care too much for the spoken word parts, but yeah, nice stuff.

It's been like  a year or two that I last listened to that EP. I don't remember anything about it, but I do remember it was free to download along with a bunch of other albums... I wonder what was the website's name...

Ok, so I'm just discovering that I like math rock.  But I don't like how alot of the bands (that i've heard) are too fast...it seems like too much to process at one time.  I enjoy the complexity of odd time signatures/polyrhythms and spectacular drumming, but don't like how it feels too rushed with almost no memorable melody.  I already know that i LOVE post-rock, and have recently (thanks to this thread) found some cool bands that are somewhat on the border of post-rock and math-rock, preferably leaning a little more towards the post-rock side (like Neil On Impression, The Samuel Jackson Five, and Tera Melos).  I also really enjoyed the hint of jazz in The Samuel Jackson Five.  I guess my question is, do any of you know of more bands that are similar to this?

Thanks to all for the recommendations!  This has been a very productive week in new music discoveries for me.

I'm stoked to see that you liked Tera Melos! Since you did I have to re-recomend Coptic Light, they're not too fast, and they are extremely progressive, their self titled album is very good!

Cool, thanks for the link.  I'll take that same question to the thread.  It matches up perfectly with where it was left off.

Mmmmm... Deliciously sludgy, but not droney! I like how Idiolum is incredibly heavy, but dosent have a crazy negative feel about it (very contrary to the album art). Are we going to add them to the PA Jody?
