I heard Sun 0))) is more of a drone band than post metal, but at the same time, you are a big fan of Dirge, the ultimate drone band, so continue.

it *should* suit you - it's neither too doomy nor too airy. altar has plenty of texture and stuff
another CD along the same lines is EARTH's Hex, if I remember it anything like the way it sounded |

Thanks a lot, ive been building a list of bands i need to hear since i got on the archives about four years ago (wow) and i think both bands have been on and off the list many times. Ive heard of EARTH i think, if only by way of Last.fm so ill pencil them onto the list somewhere. . .

Yes, Alter is probably your best bet for Sunn o))) material, I certainly find this album more rewarding than their solo material. Southern Lord does some nice work with the packaging, especially the lp version. Personally I would not feel comfortable recommending you any of sunn o)))'s albums, they were a far more interesting before I heard their music.
Boris' Amplifier Worship is brilliant. |

Are there any Prog bands you guys can recommend that sound alot like Ruphus? I really like them. And do you know where I can find more songs of theirs? There are only 2 songs on youtube.. Those of you who don't know how they sound like, here's the 2 songs that got me hooked on them- If you can give me any suggestions that would be great. I have to agree with the above concerning Alter by Sunn O))) & Boris - great album. Better I think than the solo efforts of Boris. However, I really like Feedbacker by Boris.
Another thumbs up for the Earth album Hex: Or Printing In The Infernal Method. |

Cool. Then you might enjoy their newest, Bees Made Honey in the Lion's Skull. An excellent album, perhaps even better. But nothing like Phase 3: Thrones and Dominions. Saw them live a couple weeks ago and they were wonderful |

Hex sounded a lot like post rock, and apparently the newest one sounded like that.....they COULD potentially wind up here in my opinion if they put out another album in that vein a Boris album for post fans could be "Flood"- it has the longest damn buildup of any song I've ever heard |

Gregor Samsa is one of my best discoveries in the last two weeks. The most epic shoegazer music I've ever heard, and the female vocals are sooooo cute!!

yep, both "55:12" and "Rest" are amazing. I personally found a lot of TALK TALK influence in them, hence I like them patiently
