Alright I've probably heard this before but how do you determine the winning pitcher?

Cardinals go into the 5th ahead 5-2, score two more runs to make it 7-2. Starting pitcher Jackson gets one out and gets in a jam and is pulled. Two pitchers later, Lynn is pitching during the bad call double play, and gets credited with the win. I thought the winning pitcher is the one who was pitching when the winning run was scored.

I'll go google this but this seems crazy. If it was 5-2 when Jackson left and the winning run was at the plate...I don't know.

You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

In order to get a win the starting pitcher has to pitch 5 innings.  I think that it has something to do with not being an official game until 5 innings are over.  Since Lynn finished the 5th inning he is credited with the win.

Thank you, I found an entire page of rules on this. It's even more convoluted than I thought. But your provision is like rule #1 so that's what I missed.

During the regular season that popup that Martinez hit would have fell in for a basehit.  That linedrive that Avila hit to leftfield would have found the gap, and Gene Lamont would have sent Santiago home on Kelly's double to rightfield (he probably would have been out, but Lamont would have sent him).  Also, Cabrera was 7 for 10 against Feldman and went 0 for 2 against him and 4 for 4 against Adams and he got him out with a long flyball to rightcenterfield, which probably would have been a double or homerun during the regular season.  Oh well, 4 games out of 5 isn't entirely impossible.

Well safe to say they need to go 3-0 to win this thing.......2-1 gives them a slim chance even with hitting the ball, but 3-0 gives them some much needed breathing room.

I think you need to start doing some kind of Tiger dance ritual in your front lawn to give the boys some luck.

3 solo home runs and 2 clutch hits.  Today they need to try and hit those homers with men on base.  Anyhow, a fun time was had by all.  Go Tigers!!!

Beautiful weather all weekend in Detroit while it was raining in Texas, now the opposite is probably true.  Today and tomorrow's forecast are both cold and rainy. Dead

I don't watch sports, but we caught the Detroit-Texas game tonight.  Our son saw it and now we're watching it.

Too bad he's conked out since it's at the bottom of the tenth.  Still, he enjoyed himself.

Everything was a foul ball to him.  LOL

He's in bed, and I'm still watching.  Here come Scott's folk.  Let's see how they do at the plate.

Despite the two 7 to 3 losses in extra innings this series has been extremely close.  It could very easily be the Tigers up 3 games to 1 but for 1 pitch in any of the 3 losses.  Hope is fading fast, but we have our horse on the mound today.  Hopefully he re-fines his Cy Young form, because it hasn't been here in the playoffs.  Expecting crappy weather yet again.

From my seats, when Kinsler stole 3rd base in the 6th inning he looked like he was out.  The ball certainly beat him to the base.  I was surprised that Leyland didn't argue, so I assumed that he was safe, but I read a couple of comments on the Tigers' website where fans thought that he was out.  Was he safe, or did the ump possibly cost us the series with a blown call?

^ I don't know.....I did not even see the game, as I left work it was still on rain delay and figured the game would be called, I was shocked to see they played it. I only saw the final score during the NLCS game.
