Well sometimes you just need something with energy and still sounds atmospheric and cool. If you didn't get One Time for All Time, I recommend it. |

Now listening to free demo EP of EVERYTHING IS MADE IN CHINA, a Must for EitS/GiaA fans!!!
I've proposed them for two genre teams, since they fuse Indie/Modern Prog and Post-Rock in their music. That's what I wrote - New fresh enjoyable band from Russia. I heard about them as of indie stuff, but recently came across their debut album entitled "4". Purely indie (very much MUSE/RADIOHEAD-influenced) in the beginning, album then turns into a rather proggy adventure. With Post-Rock instrumental jerkly entitled "After Rock" and closing 11-min "Made Trade Fear" epic you can get one hell of an album! Recommended for Crossover Prog Diquoteque Lounge , but also influenced by SIGUR ROS, so I'm in doubts for now. Get in touch to get more samples. |

New Ganon album out! So far I've only heard the first song, not too different from their first, but with less sludge. Really good band, I dont know why I dont listen to them more often.

has anyone noticed, there are NO such album as Mono & Worl's End Girlfriend "Palmless Prayer..."? It's bad, 'coz I'd happily write a 4-star review on it Where can I add it? for Mono or WEG?

so i turned on Battles today, and for the first time since i bought the CD, i liked it. I went from not really liking any of it to popping it in and having my first thought be "oh this is pretty sweet!" thats weird. normally it grows on me or i have a song or two that i like that help the rest of the CD 'click'. im excited.

I have their album on vinyl. It's enjoyable... just kind of psychedelic and atmospheric, but not a whole lot going on. It's good... but not great. I wouldn't compare them to Jesu. |

Well... I enjoy it. It's not a staple of post-metal, for sure. but I definitely put it on when I need something heavy and ambient. |

thanks Ian
I have two tracks from WINDMILLS..., nice but definitely non-essential. Nothing close to JESU, more EXPLOSIONS-MOGWAI kind of guitar-driven Post-Rock Edited by Prog-jester - March 10 2008 at 02:36 |

Meniscus is a pretty good blend of post rock and metal, but the album is basically ruined by the twenty minuete epic at the end, when really, 15 minuetes of it is just ambience. A lot of great bands really screw themselves over with their twenty minueters...
Meniscus
Giant squid
Tera Melos
Ulver
Wolves in the throne room
to name a few...

havn't heard any of those epics excepts WitTR's and i kinda like that one. . .
its no better or worse than the rest of that disc (at least the black metal portions, the intro song is incredible and beats out most of the rest of the cd) i like me the ambience |

I agree Di artio is an excellent song!
There are some good post metal epics though...
Conifers Troy Landmammal, and Pelican march into the sea are the best!

Dude, check out your last fm page, I tried talking to you about them.
Yeah, they're album is excellent almost five stars. They're version of epic post rock is one of the more original out there, and thats hard to do with twenty miuetes on your hands.
