I was able to beat that game pretty easily when I was 10 or 11.... Tongue

Didn't care for Final Fantasy XII.  The story wasn't very interesting and the characters had no personality or development whatsoever.  The world was cool, I even liked the battle system, shame the story/characters were mediocre, which is the essence of a good RPG.

X was great, however, despite what many others might think.  VI and VII are still my favorites, and I'll be buying IV soon (never even played that one).
I agree with everything you said. The only thing that I've never forgiven myself for is never playing early FF games....I bought VII a while ago, cause I heard it was the best FF, but I was so young then and had no patience, and sold it just because the stupid graphics and all the reading and wacky controls...if only I was as wise then...

But I heard that there will be a VII remake for PS3. I think it will be exactly the same, just crazy graphics, new controls, and speech. (that may not be true, though). If that is the case, then I'm definitely going to save up for 2 years and buy a Ps3.

EDIT: And by the way, I'm looking for a new RPG to play for the last few weeks of summer. I want one with a really really interesting and layered plot and good characters. Any suggestions? I don't care about controls, graphics, or how long it is, I just want a good story.

Xenogears!  It has my favorite story and favorite characters in a video game.  Cool battle system, you get to use giant robots.  The graphic style is very anime-inspired, and considering I don't care for anime at all and love this game says a lot.

Final Fantasy 6 is awesome too, a classic, I'd probably prefer it to FF7 if 7 didn't have the nostalgia factor.  FFTactics is worth checking out if you like strategy games, although it was really difficult.  If you like that, the Ogre Battle series is great (especially 64).

I know that I am the odd one out but personally I found IX to be my favourite, its just so funny, while still retaining a story

Never could really get into that one, although I only borrowed it and played it a few hours.  I should pick it up again some day...

EDIT: Just played the demo thorugh a couple of times and I'd advise anyone with a PC or Xbox 360 to get it as it is easily going to ge the best game to be released this year.

Also my preorder has been dispatched Big%20smile

Is Xenogears any better/different than Xenosaga? What system?

I used to own Xenosaga when I was young and, again, sold it because I was stupid and found it too hard. Man I was stupid.

They have similar names and share a few concepts, but they're totally different stories.  Gears is for PS1, and is better in almost every aspect, and isn't too difficult if you take some time to level up and such.

Yes, I haven't played it through yet. When it first came out I didn't have a computer it would run on. Now I do, and a couple of days ago I happened to find the game at a flea market.

It's a pretty cool game, by the way.
